Alright, having now actually watched the clip, there's nothing new or earth shattering in there. It is pretty cool that it got any mention at all, but seriously, they left out all kinds of good stuff. Like, I don't know, how about the Working Designs library? Or Ys?

Shit video quality and smarmy wannabe comedians regurgitating what they've heard on the internet:

'built to compete against the NES and Genesis'... except it's older than the Genesis
'incredibly expensive, the CD add-on even more expensive'... except the base console was cheaper than the Genesis
'what was behind the lack of success for the TG-16 was that no one bought it'... well, duh!

Wow, that was horribly disgusting.  It also reminds me of my theory that pretty people seem to be incapable of rational thought.

Who knew that the TG16 debuted the console port of R-Type?  Oh, and that 8-bit gameplay discussion between the CPU and graphics chips of the PCE/TG16 was typical bull.

I just love how they completely ignore how well the system did in Japan only talk about how poorly it did her in the states compared to the SNES, which was 6 years newer.

I can't watch it because it's on hulu, but is this the same show that trashed the Genesis, Sega-CD and 32X? That was pretty lame, so if it's the same show, I can imagine how ill informed a TG-16 special would go.

Yeah, and I can almost never stand the perky cheerleader narrator or whoever it is that they use for these segments.  It's even more frustrating when they just spout barely researched trivia from Wikipedia without any critical analysis or pros/cons about the system.  Now if it was Morgan Freeman narrating I'd be more forgiving, in fact...

I have never heard of "Attack of the Show".  What a dumb name for a... umm... show.  I really do not like how the camera switches angles so that one second they are talking directly to the camera and the next they are looking far off into the distance.  What is the point of that?  It only makes it awkward.  I like how they plugged a controller ONLY into port 2 on the SNES.  Are they getting ready for some Superscope action or something?  Nah, they probably just don't know that the controller goes into the other port.  Also, the chick said that Bonk would "ebentually become the system mascot".

I didn't see any pretty people in that video.

I only watch G4 for X-Play, they seem to be right on most of the time and it has been going since 1998(wikipedia has a page over its history) and has had over 1000 episodes, they give game reviews, interviews and upcoming news on games and technology. Plus both of the people running the show used to do game reviews and other shows for the network before those shows were cancelled like Adam Sessler who is the only cast member from ZDTV left when it changed to TechTV then to G4. Some of his favorite series are Halo for its first person shooter qualities; the Japanse version of Rez for its Trance Vibrator feature; the Banjo-Kazooie, Rayman, Ratchet and Clank, Bonk, and Sly Cooper series for their unique platform qualities. and Morgan Webb who not only does the show but has also became a contributing game columnist for FHM and is also a survivor from TechTV.

The system that we emulate on our Nintendo?  Does he mean Wii?  I'm confused...

Let me see that guy try to emulate a TG16 on a NES.

That was a cool clip. It wasn't that insulting. It could have been worse.
I like when he said, "no one actually owned a tg16, it was a friend of a friend of a ...". LOL!
I remember X-play gave a random quick mention of Bonk and the TG16 (basically one or two lines in the middle of discussing something else).

I love the predictable negative overreactions and nitpicking. GRAB YOUR TORCHES AND PITCHFORKS!

I didn't think the clip was that bad, and I'm generally a G4 hater. It was a decent primer for people who don't know shit about the console. I could've used more gameplay clips and whatnot, but as a cursory overview of a console for a casual audience, it did the job. I'm just glad my favorite little-console-that-could got a bit of airtime...even if G4 has about seventeen total viewers.
Games I Need: Bonk 3 (HuCard), Legend of Hero Tonma, Magical Chase, Soldier Blade, Super Air Zonk.

Got one to sell? PM me!

It would just be nice for a change to have someone on a fairly watched show such as this, do a review of the TG-16 that actually "knows" or "did real reasearch".  That way if someone really was interested in what they were talking about they would have the right info to begin with.  It's just sad that people also think if a system didn't sell well it must have been total shit and no one liked it. That's far from the truth.

What do you expect from the mainstream? It's nice that TG16 gets a mention but it's not like we can expect them to really give the platform a fair and complete review. If they really just wanted to talk about the TG16 as it was in America, I can give them a break. Honestly the TG16 isn't even half of what it is if you totally exclude the PC-Engine side. Again they are in mainstream media so what do you expect. Alot of the people in their audience have never heard of TG16 outside of the Wii Virtual Console.
