Help with Momotarou Katsugeki. I can't even get started
« on: May 18, 2011, 09:29:44 AM »
I just got it and I can't do anything with it. I press start on the title screen and it goes into some long password system in Japanese. If anybody has a getting started guide, or a walkthrough, I would be much appreciated.

Thanks for any help,

Mason

Talk to these guys

They give you a long winded password in Japanese.

i have been translating the menus with the hiragana and Katakana, and have made progress. You can save to your internal meemory in towns or get a password at the monk statues. You can store a few games on the Duo's internal memory. Also you have 3 difficulty modes.

Its been fun to do. Just takes a lot of time. I ham planning on translating the items and swords and armor.

Huh.  I fell into thinking that all Momotaru games were awful, but checking it on PCEngine.co.uk, it's actually looked upon favourably.

Is there any chance that your translation will be released publicly?  If so I might try this game.

Aweful? No way, those games are awesome! The RPGs are oldschool Dragon Quest style, but they're very polished.

You know what...  I think people may have been talking about wonder momo.  I'd assumed momo was short for Momotaru.

They were >___<  It was all from this thread.  I need to read better.

Actually, it's true that people are often harsh on the Momotarou games, but those people usually haven't played more than a few seconds of them and don't really know what they're talking about.  They see the primitive graphics in the RPGs and the 25-cent price tags and assume the games are garbage, which, for the most part, isn't the case.  Momotarou Densetsu II and Momotarou Densetsu Gaiden are both solid old-school RPGs.  Turbo isn't so hot, but it's okay.  Katsugeki is a nice platformer.  The board games (Super Momotarou Dentetsu and Super Momotarou Dentetsu II) don't do much for me, though.

(Wonder Momo, by the way, truly is crap.)

well if i am only doing the main menus and items. I am not translating the story. But Let me see how for I get. RIght now i can play it, and use some items. Just finding out the item names is hard.

I love this game! Great platformer IMO.

That is pretty cool that you are trying to translate this game. Even if it's just the menu items, i look foward to it! I hate guessing what items are what in game. I remember some, bu it's rather frustrating when I hv one hit left on a boss and can't figure out what special move I'm calling lol

Pro tip: In the first mini level (where you jump over the rocks before the game starts). Get to the end and wait until the timer starts beeping before exiting the screen. You get more stuff then.

Nice. I never quite understood the purpose of the  first mini level.
