The PS1 has a lot of worthless trash.

Yeah that superman game for the N64 was a massive disappointment.

Just sat down with Timeball for a few minutes, because I remember buying it and playing for 45 seconds and saying "this game is shit."  Now I tried it for 10 minutes, and am saying "this game is still shit."

Night Creatures was interesting enough to look at where I gave it a few hours at least, which instantly makes it better in my book than Timeball.  If someone on the thread didn't previously mention Timeball, I would've forgotten it had existed.

Has anyone mentioned Ballistix yet? That barely even counts as a game, it's more like a semi-interactive ball demo.

The first Zelda game was redeeming; the Alien Vs. Predator of the Jaguar.

The PS has some really really good games, but almost none of them are the cutting edge million seller stuff that made the machine so popular in it's era.

Sure it does, but it has almost as high of a percentage of shovelware as the Wii.

The thing with the Wii is that only the titles made by Nintendo will become classics. On the PSX, a lot of titles made by third parties became classics. On that point, PSX is better than the Wii and PS1 has less (%) Shovelware then the Wii.

I would tend to agree but I always say, the term "Classics" are in the eye of the beholder. BUT, that being said, some games, are just plain bad and are rightfully reguarded as such.

Its like China Warrior, not a classic, but not just plain bad. But, Ballistics.... just plain bad. If a game has little point or purpose, poor controls, and has a just a general bad presentation then those are the games I conside garbage.

I remember when I was young and I had my original turbografx. My dad used to play timeball on it quite a bit. He really enjoys puzzle type games.

I disagree. China Warrior is a classic, AND it's just plain bad.

Ah, good call, the B-Movie style classic!

Again, however, that falls into the eye of the beholder class of opinion..... of which I am a huge fan of so, yes I agree with that statement...

Alright, so Night Creatures arrived in the mail the other day and I finally got around to popping it in last night. I hadn't played it since it was first released, and I remember absolutely despising it back then. But something in my head said, "It couldn't be as bad as I remember it being." Besides, graphically it's kinda bad ass, and the concept is cool too.

Yeah...it's just as bad, if not worse, than I remember. Which is a shame because, again, the game looks really nice. But the hit detection is such that the game is nearly unplayable.

I began by going to the right from the first screen and getting to the werewolf/spooky trees area. The boss battle with the giant tree took me a good 2-3 tries because my character kept bouncing from root-to-root, without any ability to control him, until all my energy was depleted. I finally took him down by finding a narrow safe spot and hacking the shit out of him. Once I finished, it was down into the cave, where I was immediately smoked by the witch. The hint for the witch was something like, "She doesn't bathe". Do I throw water at her? What? By that point, I was too frustrated  to work my way back there, so after my Game Over I decided to go left from the first screen. Again, stylistically, the game impressed me. Shit's all spooky and gothic looking. I went into the church and began climbing down. Found a sword (that looked more like a fencing foil), and began hacking the shit out of the hordes of rats n' shit that came at me. But once those floating eye-ball/spectre things came at me, I was toast. And so was the game. I shut it off.

I felt just like I did back in the 90s when I first cracked this game open. Completely disappointed, because I love the haunted/spooky atmosphere games of that era. Perhaps I'll pick up Ghost Manor next, since that game's actually playable...
Games I Need: Bonk 3 (HuCard), Legend of Hero Tonma, Magical Chase, Soldier Blade, Super Air Zonk.

Got one to sell? PM me!

I vote for China Warrior and Shadow of the Beast. I don't understand what makes China Warrior "Classic". I would say Unique but not classic IMO. Something like Ys is a classic to me.

I really like Shadow of the Beast.  I prefer the original Amiga version, but DMA Design did a great job with it on the Duo.  I vote for Darkwing Duck.
