How much of a Hu card slot can I Dremel off?
« on: June 02, 2011, 05:09:53 AM »
That circuit board attached to the slot, I need to (well, likely need to) get rid of some of it - where's it safe to cut through?  Am I right in thinking "if it's silver, leave it alone"?  Or is it more complicated than it looks?

I'm removing the expansion port and moving the Hucard slot to the bottom, so the Hu card will stick out the back.
It won't fit at the moment, but removing the caps and replacing them with tantalum ones should give me enough room.  And I'll get rid of that huge cable, probably re-use an IDE cable.

It's essentially (for this purpose) exactly the same as the Core II, if that helps.

I'm thinking that the part of the PCB that isn't etched (screw holes and a large portion to the right) can be removed.
