TS may not look as good, but it sure plays a hell of a lot better.  DD only gets mentioned as much as it does because it is a late release game with no jewel case, or else the TS preferrence would be unanimous.

I hope that's supposed to be a joke.

I gave this game a legitimate try (mainly because the graphics are actually pretty good, sorta) but gave up near the end. Its just too bad.

In my opinion, the floaty controls are really the game's only shortcoming.

If you include "horrendous collision detection" in with controls, then I'd pretty much agree with you there.

Don't forget the crappy sound effects and cheap animation either.

Rather then base my opinion on 20 year old memories I decided to pop Tailspin in today and give it a play through for comparison. Well, I still think Tailspin is the better game even more so then before. With the exception of the annoying delay between landing and when you can jump again in TS, the controls are way way better. Platform jumping and hopping on enemies heads in Darkwing Duck is just a trial in frustration.

Tailspin has different music in each stage versus the same droning theme present in most of DD. Speaking of stages there are 6 in TS not counting the "flying" stage versus 4 in DD. Graphics are about equal, but with more stages TS has more variety.

Again I think both games are pretty mediocre, but Tailspin could have been a decent game if it had a little more polish. On a scale of 1 to 10 I'd give Darkwing Duck a 4 and Tailspin a 5.

Speaking of frustrations running high while jumping on heads, I got Pac Land in the mail today.  Everything was going fine until round 17 when apparently you have to bounce on the ghosts heads to get past a lake that is impassable.

Maybe I'll try that game again sometime in the future, but the game went from being "ok" to "%!&*#?!@^#~!!!!" in one round. I think it'll be awhile.

Who am I kidding.  I'll try again tomorrow!

I wanted to give Talespin another go too. Thankfully I was able to finish it while filming this time (the first try was a diaster):

I agree with a lot of this.

The other thing I like about TS is that every time I play it, I seem to get some weird glitch that will never be replicated and is complete nonsense.  This just adds to the game's excitement.  Last time I fired it up I was walking through walls, until I hit reset.  Wonder if it is just my game, since no one else talks about this?

Cool vid Starsoldier. Yeah I had some fun playing Tailspin again, its not a terrible game just not a very good one. I can see myself playing it again one day unlike Darkwing Duck.

Yeah, Pac Land starts out fun like you said but I also found it very difficult later in the game. The game's jumping seems a bit too sluggish for the many tasks it wants you complete so when I reviewed it I rated it below average which upset a few out there. DD is still worst though of course.

I never had that glitch before but it sounds cool.

The only things that bugged me about the playthrough was the awkward jumping and the lousy ending. Other then that I had some fun playing it again there believe it or not.
