I like that there are JP options out there... especially all the sweet stuff that didn't make it this side of the pacific.  But I don't like that I can't read JP.  What's an ignorantpowhitetrashsmalltownhomeboyallgrowedupwithajob to do?

Ok, obviously with bomberman the language barrier isn't going to keep you from playing, but it kinda irks me still.  I don't want no JP up in my game if I can avoid it.  It hurts my brain.  ;-)

If you hate Japanese so much then how is it you can stomach playing their games? I mean, that must drive you nuts. I mean...these are Japanese as hell games we're talking about here. They started there, they were manufactured there, etc. I find it impossible to forget.

BTW, many PCE games are %100 English. The Soldier series, for example. Bomberman usually has about 5 words in the whole game to begin with, with about half of them already being in English.

That's just the kind of crap my wife would say.  Making things up and going on random nonsense tangents.  You took me saying "I don't like that I can't read JP" to mean that I don't like Japanese.  Quite the opposite.  I'm ashamed of the fact that I don't know any other languages and I rather respect cultures that make learning other languages a priority.  The Japanese language (and pretty much every other language but my own...) does hurt my head...

As I said before... "What's an ignorantpowhitetrashsmalltownhomeboyallgrowedupwithajob to do?"

heh.  ;-)

(and... for the record... bomberman '94 is my fav NEC rendition of the bunch... kids and I love it!)

I like things from many cultures, yet only speak one language.  This comment is like saying, "how can you love movies and then watch a Fellini film with subtitles?"

Having said that, it seems popular on this board to point out how awesome cheap you guys got games for. I really don't know where you are picking these up for.

Almost all of my 'rare' games were bought on eBay for reasonable prices, the rest were bought here from other members.  Impatient people such as yourself are why the eBay market is as screwed up as it is, but if those that are willing to wait or buy larger lots can still find a few deals.

Yes, BlueBMW pointed that out. And yes, I was impatient on this and probably should have waited. Regardless, what's done is done. I'll try here first next time.

Having said that, it seems popular on this board to point out how awesome cheap you guys got games for. I really don't know where you are picking these up for. Both rare and fun games (not that the two are mutually exclusive) seem to be going for a hefty chunk of change these days. I've got a little more half the American library, and I'm pretty sure anything I want beyond this point (which is all of them) is going to cost me.

There is one place that consistently has the best prices and selection. Where you can not only find any game for what it really should sell for, but often for 90% or more less than that. It's eBay.

If you go to the mall and Gamestop is selling new PS3 ganes for $600 each, but the shop next door has them for $60 each, what would you do? Buy and/or complain about the high prices of what can be purchased for $60?

For American titles? If you have a link to a cheap Bonk 3, Beyond Shadowgate, Cotton or Godzilla on ebay, I'd love to see it.

I'm just mad that I sold my original of the turbo duo dynastic hero 5 years ago. I had no idea it would be worth so much and that I'd probably never be able to own it again ](*,) Crazy ebay

Ebay has pretty much gone straight to hell the last couple of months for Turbo stuff. Of course you can't just walk into any game store and find a copy of Magical Chase, Dynastic Hero or Bonk III just laying around on sale for $50 so what can you do? Making matters worse are these VGA sellers who are buying up Turbo games and reselling them at premium prices as "VGA Graded". $100+ for common turbo games VGA graded? Get the hell out of here!

As others have mentioned its kind of a supply and demand situation where if a game has very few if any copies up on ebay over time the prices tend to go up. I haven't been watching for Bomberman 93 as I've had the game in my collection, but in my experience a game can go a month without being on ebay and then all of a sudden 5 copies will pop up. I think the worst thing buyers can do is panic and pay more thinking its their only chance at getting a particular game cause there will be other opportunities.

Me personally I've always used www.racketboy.com's "rare & valuable" to get an idea of what a game is worth and then use my own judgement.

You can go to eBay where they ARE lying around for $50. A complete Dynastic Hero for Turbo sold on eBay within the last couple months for $50. Sales like that are what should matter to buyers, not stupid asking prices or the odd crazy eBay listing end price which may or may not have been paid for.

People sometimes make sarcastic comments like this, contrasting the extreme asking prices with extreme 'fantasy' scenarios. But the bottom end prices are not a fantasy, at leadt on eBay.

I can list my Bomberman '93 for $10000 or Magic Chase for $50000, but that doesn't mean that they are instantly worth more. That's the whole point of the gouging threads. It's a joke what many people are asking for Turbo stuff. It's only a tiny percentage of these crazy listing that actually end in a sale which may or not have been paid for. But there's also an equal or greater percentage of listings that sell for good or super cheap prices that we have every reason to believe were paid for.

It's this kind of mentality that has allowed people to so easily manipulate the Turbo market. I can list a game not currently for sale on eBay and buy it under an alternate account for a high price. Then sell it for real the next week to someome who will believe that that is now "what they go for".
